Club Racing

MBYC runs an active year round racing program of regattas, distance races, and round the buoys club racing. Competitive sailing is a great way to enhance ones sailing skills, socialize with other members, and simply enjoy being on the water in our beautiful bay.

The club also organizes and runs the Labour Day Regatta and Thetis Island Regatta.

Round the buoys Club racing is roughly every second Sunday, year round, with a Winter, Summer, and Fall Series. Each Series is five races with one throw-out.

Distance races include the North Reef Series (three races), Patey Rock, and Idol Island.

Racing is open to non member boats as well as club members, even if you have never raced before. If you are interested in joining us on the start line, please contact the Fleet Captain first to let us get you set up with sailing instructions, waivers, and a temporary club handicap rating.

If crewing is more your interest, contact the Fleet Captain at fleetcaptain@mbyc.ca to have your name added to the Crew Bank. You will need soft soled shoes, lifejacket, and appropriate clothing.
