Modernizing Our Volunteer Program
You may have noticed a shift in how we call for volunteers at the Club. Many of our latest opportunities are now accessible directly through your Member Portal under the 'Volunteer' or 'Tasks' sections.
As part of this transition, we are asking all Committee Chairs to send their volunteer requests to the Volunteer Coordinator rather than the Club Administrator. This change ensures all opportunities are coordinated within the system, preparing us for a future where the portal will automatically track participation and hours.
Why the Change? Our previous email-based system was often a matter of timing; members were reliant on being available exactly when an email arrived. By listing opportunities in the portal, we are creating a more equitable system. Now, every member can view a comprehensive list of upcoming needs and sign up for roles that fit their schedule in advance.
Handling Immediate Needs While the portal is ideal for scheduled events, we recognize that urgent needs arise. For unscheduled or immediate work, the 'Tasks' feature in the portal provides a quick way to alert the membership. However, if a need is truly time-sensitive, we will continue to use direct email to ensure we get the word out fast.
The Long-Term Goal Our ultimate objective is to eliminate the need for manual hour submissions. Eventually, when you sign up for an opportunity through the portal, your volunteer hours will be tracked automatically. We appreciate your patience as we migrate to this more efficient system.
